New Democratic Strategy?

Top Democrats believe they have struck political gold by depicting Rush Limbaugh as the new face of the Republican Party, a full-scale effort first hatched by some of the most familiar names in politics and now being guided in part from inside the White House.

The strategy took shape after Democratic strategists Stanley Greenberg and James Carville included Limbaugh’s name in an October poll and learned their longtime tormentor was deeply unpopular with many Americans, especially younger voters. Then the conservative talk-radio host emerged as an unapologetic critic of Barack Obama shortly before his inauguration, when even many Republicans were showering him with praise.

Soon it clicked: Democrats realized they could roll out a new GOP bogeyman for the post-Bush era by turning to an old one in Limbaugh, a polarizing figure since he rose to prominence in the 1990s.

Limbaugh is embracing the line of attack, suggesting a certain symbiosis between him and his political adversaries.

"The administration is enabling me,” he wrote in an e-mail to POLITICO. “They are expanding my profile, expanding my audience and expanding my influence. An ever larger number of people are now being exposed to the antidote to Obamaism: conservatism, as articulated by me. An ever larger number of people are now exposed to substantive warnings, analysis and criticism of Obama's policies and intentions, a ‘story’ I own because the [mainstream media] is largely the Obama Press Office.”

The bigger, the better, agreed Carville. “It’s great for us, great for him, great for the press,” he said of Limbaugh. “The only people he’s not good for are the actual Republicans in Congress.”

Wow, seriously? I'm glad our government has reached the age where they can get someone else to make the other party look bad, instead of just looking great by themselves...

Rush Limbaugh is an idiot anyway, though.

The Limbaugh sceme will presumably be very effective. By creating the mindset that all Republicans are Obama bashers like the aforementioned, the Democrat party will be swarming with new recruits, especially teenagers, who have proven themselves more involved in politics than ever before. I foresee the Limbaugh plan to be as successful in branding the Republicans as our assumption that anyone with Arabic heritage is a terrorist. Well I guess it goes to show that there really is "nothing new under the sun."

i think that we need to focus on more important things not this man & different parties, i believe that we should try to forget about the parties and come togather as a country. the fact that this may hurt the republicans why do that matter when there are things that the republicans need to be doing to better this country. America needs to get its priorities right.

I think Limbaugh is tainting his own name. Seriously, here the democrats are using him to gain Democratic support and he's going along for the ride. He's not popular with many voters, and yet he really thinks he's going to lead people against Obamaism. (On that note, Obama has his own -ism now?! Geez.) I don't know if this will turn out to be a good or bad thing, but it sounds rather ridiculous.

How does Rush not understand that he's an idiot? This strategy of the Democrats is smart, for once. Because of Limbaugh's insanity, and the fact that he calls himself the voice of conservatism, Democrats can now undermine the Republican party and make them look like whack jobs. Rush Limbaugh is not the voice of conservatism, he's the voice of insanity. He's a crazy, greedy, fat, lazy, useless tub of stupidity that somehow got national recognition and because of that considers himself Jesus to the Conservatives. Let's think of some other people, on the same level with Rush, who have received national recognition: Timothy McVeigh, Terry Nichols, Ann Coulter, and The Klan. I left out Charles Manson because he actually has a brain. Rush Limbaugh embodies every fault any conservative could ever have. He is a racist, chauvinistic, arrogant idiot. So the Democrats have struck gold and are actually being smart by making him out to be the face of conservatism. Round One: Donkeys.

Oh how I hate that man. So much. It seems like all Rush does is attack people. And eat lots of Quarter Pounders.

This is a great play by the democrats--they can get some big brownie points from those who can't stand Rush. I think you either love or hate Rush Limbaugh, and I'm not his biggest fan. My dad and I definitely listen to him on the way home from school every day and laugh at him and his lame attacks that usually lack legitimate substance. I like the way democrats are thinking but I'm not digging the whole Rush-getting-a-media-boost because he is one man who does not need any more reason to expand his ego.

Ive always thought that Rush Limbaugh is a fool. A person can never aline himself entirely as a conservative or liberal. Because no one is ever entirely right. This is the party politics that sickens me to my stomach. But I guess you have to put up with it because the alternative is a single party state and that doesn't end well.

My only comment on this article is that Rush's actions and the effects of his actions are never meant to help the republican party or republicans. He has said more than once that he wants nothing more to do with republicans because they have abandoned conservatism for being obscenely moderate. i believe that if the liberals need a "bad guy" he is the best man for the job and will continue to spearhead the conservative movement against them.

Well they can speak praise or they can hate. But, either way they are talking about you and will here what you have to say. aLthoug it is very mature to balme someone else for the worlds problems instead of fixing them. The Democrats are running out of people to hate.

The main reason that Limbaugh is getting so much attention is because he is an absolute idiot. He loves rolling in his own insipid media frenzy of trying to make him and political parties look bad. There are bigger and better things to put in the media other than how more stupid Rush Limbaugh can make himself look today.

Good one by the Democrats, they will probably be scoring points by Rush being the new face to the Republican Party. That man has a big head and it is full of himself. This media boost he's talking about is never going to happen, even if it does it will probably be about the people who cant stand him...I mean some on he's part of the REPULICAN PARTY! What's this about "OBAMAISM"? Who ever said anything about that?...

AndrewGarcia02 said...

If he completly destroys the little respect that democrats have for republicans, it will be a very say day.

I really dont know who this man is but now that im begging to find out i really dont like him either. His attacks sound like they lack legitimacy. The democrats are thinking pretty smart though because the people that dont like him will go with them.

i think rush should just keep his mouth shut. He is doing the democrats a favor at this point. He is also making the Republican party look stupid.
