The Weekend Primaries

Okay, so two more states were decided yesterday.

In South Carolina, the GOP, in a suprise and perhaps the nail in the coffin of Mike Huckabee, voted for John McCain. The importance of North Carolina to the GOP is that no Republican candidate has ever won the party nomination without winning North Carolina. In a state that has a very strong evangelical base, the Huckabee campaign was desparatly needing the state to have a chance to continue. With this state in the McCain bag, it looks like it is down to a two person race the rest of the way out.

Remember the statement that I posted last week about the NCAA Final 4. With McCain defeating Huckabee in his must win, we now turn to Nevade where both Republicans and Democrats had a caucus yesterday.

Since McCain had already pulled an upset in South Carolina, Nevada was no longer a must win for his campaign, and good thing. Mitt Romney walked away with the victory in the Silver State, keeping his hopes still alive. With back to back wins in Michigan and now in Nevada, the stage is set for a wild "super duper doppler" Tuesday.

On the Democrat side, a wild week of mud slinging, lawsuit threatening came to and end with Clinton winning the basically two person race in Nevada. As with the Republicans, the Democrats are now headed to what will be an exciting day on the first Tuesday of February.

So it looks like there are only four viable candidates left in the entire race, then: McCain, Romney, Clinton, and Obama. At this point, it seems like voters who were supporting other candidates for personality reasons will start to split down the middle, giving their support to one candidate or another. The dividing factor is probably going to be the economy, at least the way it's looking at this point, because it's dropping like a stone. I think candidates will probably have to emphasize their positions on how to handle economic turmoil soon.

I personally believe that the Republican party is more consolidated. The Democrats have a large schism forming with alot of he said she said going on. If the candidates don't want to lose to Republicans again they need to shape up and come to some sort of compromise that will allow them to have the most constituents pleased.

I hope McCain wins, hes my second choice of who i want to be president. But I guess anything is good as long as hillary doesnt win the election. I think this country would have so many problems with having a woman president. I dont think other countries would respect us as much.

so pretty much there are 4 canidates left. I am pulling for obama or clinton, i think it would be cool for the first time to have a woman president or someone not of the white ethincity background. Pretty much if a democrat wants to win they need to stop playin games with he said she said they need to get down to bussiness and talk about are economy and what they want to do instead of he said she said.

I believe what Patrick said is so true the Republican party is not dividing itself and will have so much of a better time after the primaries to come together and win this thing. Hopefully, Obama and Clinton can work this out so that the Democratic party can salvage what they intially had going for them the diversity.

And FYI there is nothing wrong with a woman president!!! Many influential political leaders have been women

I don't think Hillarie shouldn't win just because she's a woman..of course i don't like her but i don't think she should be discriminated against...yea..=)
