INDIANAPOLIS -- A man died Monday, days after he was involved in a swordfight with the grandson of a woman who was killed when she tried to intervene in the fight, police said.
Adolf Stegbauer, 69, died from complications of a stab wound. Charges pending against Chris Rondeau, 39, were expected to be upgraded. Police said he stabbed Stegbauer.
Franziska Stegbauer, 77, also died as a result of stab wounds after the fight early Thursday morning, but police were not initially sure which of the men had stabbed her.
Rondeau and Adolf Stegbauer got into an argument at a home in the 5200 block of Raceway Road that escalated when one of the men grabbed a sword, prompting the other man to also brandish a sword.
Rondeau was already held on an attempted murder charge stemming from the stabbing of Adolf Stegbauer.

So, they're idiots. This sounds very Pirates of the Caribbean. They need to learn to solve their problems in a better less medieval way. The way I see it, it is murder.
That has to be one of the weirdest things I've ever heard. These two fighting gentlemen both happened to have handy dandy swords available at their leisure? And then they brandished them at one another until one accidentally stabbed grandma? Are there sword licenses like there are gun licenses? There should be. And people should probably consider that in the olden days armor (or atleast padding) was an integral part of the sword fighting equation. Going without it is a bad idea.
Men. What can I say? This is typical male aggressiveness that doesn't solve anything and only causes more problems. The argument was probably about something trivial anyway.
It makes me wonder. Where did they get the swords in the first place? Did the both happen to be antique collectors with an interest in swords? Maybe they were just lying in the gutter waiting for someone to come and use them.
I dont know why you would stab someone who is already old and eventually is going to die. But if he is charged with that he should of thought what he was going to do before he had even done it. But also if they both had picked up a sword shouldnt it be self defense??
when i thought that people didn't die from swords anymore this proved me wrong. this is probably the most idiotic thing i have ever seen. Also, who would intervene in a sword fight? It's kind of hard to stop someone from killing another person with a sword. At least the other guy was nice and let him grab a sword to defend himself before stabbing him.
wow this is very strange. It's kind of hard to picture two grown up men, not fencing ,getting in a sword fight in the twenty first century. I can't really imagine how odd it would look. I do feel very sad for the women who attempted to stop the fight, it was not her fault that the two guys were senseless enough to settle their arguments through a sword fight.
Ummmm there's so many things just sooo wrong about this story. The things guys do these days...lol and these guys are supposed to be older and WISER!!! yea they messed that up i mean i guess there gonna eventually pass away but thats a really brudal way to go. I wonder about the world sometimes mr.p.
